Can you share a moment when a student's breakthrough made all your efforts worth it, and what you learned from that experience?

Yes, I have. One of my breakthrough moments was with a student named Jason. He was having a hard time communicating with his mate, and it was starting to affect his confidence in class. I decided to support him by making our classroom environment more engaging and comfortable for him. I asked him simple, gentle questions to help him express himself, and I planned fun games and art activities so communication felt more natural and less intimidating. I also paired him with his classmate to give him opportunities to interact in a safe and supported way.

Over time, I saw him begin to open up. He started talking more, participating in activities, and connecting with his mate. Watching him take those small but meaningful steps showed me how powerful it can be to create the right environment for a child to thrive. It was one of those moments that reminded me that what I do really matters.

I often wonder if there is something more I can do on the larger stage rather than trying to help the individual. But then I remember that each person I help can hopefully go on to help another person, and so on and so on…

It sounds like you have started a chain reaction of good and support which we really need these days!
